There's a reason why creative people get less innovative as they get older.
A young creative has nothing to lose. You're not married, don't have kids, are debt free and can crash with a few friends if you really needed to. You have nothing to lose, so you don't give a fuck about what people think. When you don't care about what people think you are less afraid to take risks and defy convention. In other words, you are free to innovate.
But once you get all of those things - a spouse, kids, mortgage and a house - you suddenly answer to many, many people. You need a steady paycheque and can't afford to stick out from the herd. You can't take risks so you take the well worn path...because nobody ever got fired for doing what everyone else is doing. You stick to convention. In other words, you are not free to innovate.
